Customary Work Hours: Monday - Friday/ Weekends and evenings as required

ABOUT GBBB AND THE POSITION


GBBB is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, governed by a board of directors. We are headquartered in Inglewood, CA.

We are the building blocks for a healthier community. Building the next generation of healthy African American families.

Mission
The mission of GBBB is to promote the healthy development and growth of babies, children, youth, and families within our schools and communities. Our goal is to reduce infant mortality by encouraging women to seek early and continuous prenatal care, avoid the use of substances such as drugs, tobacco and alcohol, and to live healthy lifestyles before, during and after pregnancy.

Overview
Great Beginnings has been on the cutting edge of social marketing and culturally appropriate service delivery through seven successful community media campaigns consisting of billboards, brochures, posters, bus kiosk ads, radio and television public service announcements, and numerous newspaper ads and articles. The mission is carried out through the implementation of innovative and creative intervention focusing on the root causes of poor birth outcomes and child development. Programs and projects include: Health education (prenatal and well child care, social support and empowerment classes, values education classes); pregnant teens values and self esteem classes; nutrition education focusing on iron deficiency anemia; breast feeding and Lamaze classes; outreach to identify pregnant women and teens, conducting assessments, identifying problems and root causes that lead to poor reproductive outcomes; tracking and care coordination; case management for at-risk pregnant and parenting clients; mentorship program and after school sports programs.
