Great Beginnings for Black Babies (GBBB) is a
community-based organization (CBO) that is
committed to the development of healthy families
and communities. Our mission is to reduce infant
and maternal mortality through community
outreach, health education, care coordination,
and case management services.

GBBB Character Education Program
GBBB promotes character education and conflict
resolution through Values Assemblies, Student
Forums, Classroom Discussions, and Service
Learning Projects. In an effort to help children
become better decision makers, GBBB facilitates
activities and discussions around the Community
of Caring Core Values -- Respect,
Responsibility, Trust, Caring and Family.
Students and Families involved in the GBBB
Character Education program have seen a
significant improvement in academic achievement
and parent involvement.
GBBB Afterschool Sports Program
The GBBB Sports Program provides a positive
alternative for today's youth. Homework
assistance, values education and physical
fitness development are important components of
the GBBB Afterschool Sports Program. Organized
sports activities include: flag football,
basketball, soccer and softball. At the
conclusion of each sports activity,
participating students are recognized for
showing the Community of Caring Values. The GBBB
Afterschool Sports Program uses a positive
approach to engage students, teachers, para-professionals
and parents into making a positive change within
the school culture.
GBBB Pregnant Minor Program
The GBBB Pregnant Minor Program is established
to serve the pregnant minors and families within
the school community. The goal of this program
is to empower pregnant minors with social
support and parenting skills necessary to rear
healthy children. The program provides on-going
individual and group activities, service
learning projects, parent seminars and health
education. GBBB pregnant minor program promotes
the healthy development of the whole family. |
